The Bell & Ross Instrument BR01-96 Commando looks cool at first sight, but you will find it extremely effective later. As a limited edition it is produced at a number of 500 units. Carrying the limited edition and Commando labels, this timepiece do have several features making it distinguished from the other BR01 models.
First, the neat dial. The color of the dial is gray color, white not black. The numerals and hour markers consist of copious amounts of the black, photo-luminescent paint that Bell & Ross made famous. While low in contrast in lit conditions, the substance exudes a strong green glow in the dark. The same substance is applied carefully to the bold hour and minute hands.
Second, the big date complication. As the name suggests, the date display is larger then usual. This is achieved by displaying the date using two discs instead of one and is suiting for an oversize watch with large hour markers and hands.
Third, the unmistakable case. The 46 x 46mm case craft in shot-peened stainless steel with vacuum carbon black finish. Blackening of the watch case is a military innovation that came about in order to eliminate any glint that could potentially give away the soldier's position.
Forth, the new distinctive strap. The rubber strap is especially designed for the Bell & Ross BR01-96 Commando. Its dark gray color matches that of the dial's and completes the overall camouflage of the watch.
Fifth, practical functions. On top of the hours, minutes and seconds, this timepiece has a power reserve of about 40 hours. And it is water-resistant up to 100m.
