When it comes to material, watch case can be defined as gold case, steel case, copper case, aluminum case, titanium case, plastic case, wood case and so on. The most popular watch in market no doubt is the timepiece whose case and strap are made of all steel. However, you may not know that many so-called all-steel cases are made of copper and steel, which means that it is not all steel as its name suggested. Compared with all-steel case, the production cost of copper case or half-steel case is less. Therefore many manufacturers /sellers are driven crazy by the big profit to sell the so called all-steel case watch. Today I will tell you how to spot all-steel case and half-steel case.

1. All-Steel case has a bright but obscure coating while copper case comes with a bright coating which shines white. The edges of all-steel case are smooth and clean but not sharp, on the contrary, edges of copper case are sharp and strong. What’s more, lines of all-steel case are tiny and even in close and tidy rows, while lines of copper case are of various deep levels and showed in loose and irregular rows.

2. The corrosion resistance of copper case is bad. Without proper care and maintenance the color of the case will fade (turn yellow or red), and the coating will peel off.

3. Gently cut the case edge in a small range with a small knife, if the part you cut shows yellow then it is a copper case.
